Autism is a poorly-understood neurological disorder that can impair an individual’s ability to engage in various social interactions. But little 5-year-old Iris Grace in the UK is an excellent example of the unexpected gifts that autism can also grant – her exceptional focus and attention to detail have helped her create incredibly beautiful paintings that many of her fans (and buyers) have likened to Monet’s works.
Little Iris is slowly learning to speak, whereas most children have already begun to speak at least a few words by age 2. Along with speech therapy, her parents gradually introduced her to painting, which is when they discovered her amazing talent.
“We have been encouraging Iris to paint to help with speech therapy, joint attention and turn taking,” her mother, Arabella Carter-Johnson, explains on her website. “Then we realised that she is actually really talented and has an incredible concentration span of around 2 hours each time she paints. Her autism has created a style of painting which I have never seen in a child of her age, she has an understanding of colours and how they interact with each other.”
Much better version of the same subject matter I posted earlier.
We were tagged by @maxthecorgs ; @bilbothecorgi ; @supercorgi_jojo; and @susanbindon [and one other friend but i can’t find the tag] to do a Selfie and/or 3 things i have learned from #Hazel_Bear!
1) HB is my first dog! So i learned quite a lot! I read dog preparation books and watched a lot of Cesar Milan, but getting HB was quite different! I always wanted a dog and am really happy to learn what i can with her.
2) i learned what the learning process is like for dogs and how i can learn as a human. Using positive reinforcement and discipline of sticking to a schedule and trying to yearn for more learning experience.
3) i learned dog park etiquette and i have fun watching dog social dynamics at a dog park because of all the FrapPack meetups! Having Dog Friends is really awesome. It really brings a smile to both of our faces!
Frappy #WorldPetDay from @codythebc and #Hazel_Bear! #hazelb (pic from yesterday’s #FrapPack meet up) (at Brookdale Dog Park)
#Hazel_Bear can’t wait to see the #FrapPack tomorrow! (at Brookdale Dog Park)
#Hazel_Bear wanted to light a candle for all her furiends who have not found their home and for those who are still waiting. #lightforpets #hazelb
Throwback Thursday: Me and my bamboo bike. We rode around Buenos Aires, Argentina for a Contiki Bike Tour. It was fun. Also FYI, Contiki now offering trips to Japan starting next year! I’m heavily considering putting more stamps on that Passport!
Thank you for all the well wishes, Everyone! #Hazel_Bear is doing well. Sorry i have been really busy at work and on the weekends so i haven’t responded to any comments for a long time.
Watching Wednesday - “House of Corgs” with Wally UnderCorg and Hazel UnderCorg. Don’t you dare cross them.
This little #hazelb scared me last night. She threw up and was hacking for 40 minutes. I didnt sleep bexause she started at 3am. After just watching her on the floor and trying to rub her stomach for an hour i just put her up on my bed. Where i presume she was rhinking “why am i up on the bed?” We went to the vet and he thinks she is fine. Just an upset stomach.
